Thank you to all the employees working to keep Spirit of St. Louis Airport looking great! Earlier this week a crew was out painting the airfield. They do this each year and additionally if needed.
Crews are also out every day mowing. The airport has 1,250 acres and uses large tractors to mow the open space and smaller equipment to navigate around the more than 500 taxiway and runway lights.
Equipment operators mowing near the runway must pay close attention to Air Traffic Control and leave the area during takeoffs and landings.
